GENERAL TESTING

Do I need a referral for testing?

No.  If you are referred by a specific person and/or for a specific purpose, then let us know so we can better guide testing.

Can I use insurance for testing?

Yes, if you insurance allows billing out of network.  We can provide a superbill for you insurance company.

How should the person being tested prepare?

Some of the in-person testing can be mentally challenging, so come well rested & bring anything that would help stay focused & alert (e.g., snacks).  If you haven't already, please bring any information that could help us with the assessment (e.g., past reports, medication list, education history).

What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?

If you cancel/reschedule the meeting within 24hrs of the appointment, then we'll have to charge $70.

Can I also see my evaluating psychologist for therapy?

Unfortunately, due to ethical reasons we are unable to maintain "dual relationships" with claimants. However, we can provide you with great referrals to other clinicians in your area.

How long does an exam/appointment take?

The length of time will depend on your type of exam. Exams can run anywhere from 1 hour to 6 hours. We'll discuss potential testing length when deciding tests. 

Can I have someone else in the room with me during my appointment?

Yes.  You may have someone in the room with you during any part of testing if you give permission.  

Can you attend school meetings to discuss evaluation results?

Yes.  There will be an fee associated with this, which will be discussed upon consultation.

 

DDS/DORS TESTING

What happens after my Disability/DORS appointment?

After your appointment, your evaluating psychologist will generate a report of findings and results to share with Maryland DDS/DORS within 2 weeks. The report becomes a part of your disability/DORS application.  You can contact their offices for copies of the report.

Does my evaluating psychologist make the final decision about my eligibility for disability benefits?

No. The decision is made by Maryland DDS office.

How long does an exam/appointment take?

The length of time will depend on your type of exam. Exams can run anywhere from 1 hour to 6 hours.  Please contact us for questions about average length of testing for your assigned testing battery.

How long does it take for a decision to be made by the Maryland DDS office?

This is a question better suited for your Service Coordinator at the Maryland DDS office. The evaluating psychologist does not take part in the decision making process.
